Happy National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day!

Winston’s Story

Winston was approximately two years old when he was found wandering the back roads of Tennessee. Lacking a microchip or tags to identify his owners, Winston was taken to a high kill shelter. Great Dog Rescue New England found him there and transported him to Massachusetts. There he was fostered until Access Fixtures CEO, Steven Rothschild, gave him his forever home.

Winston enjoys long walks as long as there is a stream or lake to plunge into somewhere along the way. He likes rides in the truck and cuddling on the sofa with his friends and family. Most weekdays, Winston can be found at Access Fixtures attending meetings, helping with lunch, and making sure every yogurt container is thoroughly cleaned before disposal. Nine years after being adopted, Winston still chases plush squeaky toys and gets excited when one of his human siblings says, “Where’s the bunny?”

While Winston works for a company that provides commercial and sports lighting around the world, he has a strong preference in his lighting. Winston loves sunlight! He believes there is nothing better than lounging in the perfect spot in the office, enjoying the sunlight streaming through the old mill windows.

When he’s not busy working at Access Fixtures, Winston enjoys spending a relaxing day at the lake.

Kentucky’s Story

As a puppy, Kentucky (formerly known as “Rico”) was rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico. While temporarily boarding at the New England Basset Hound Rescue, he connected with Access Fixtures lighting specialist, Stephanie Derby. It was soon thereafter that Kentucky became part of the Derby family. Although he had to adjust to the snowy climate of Massachusetts, he now can’t imagine living anywhere else.

Kentucky is the receptionist at Access Fixtures and can be found happily accepting treats from the delivery people. When he’s not working, he loves yoga, spending time with his mom, and lounging on the couch watching television.

Remy’s Story

Remy was born on the streets of Tennessee. Though he was the runt of his litter, he has a larger than life personality. Often playing with dogs 10 times his size, he never lets his small size inhibit him from reaching his full potential. Sadly, Remy was found tied to a guardrail on the highway while still a small puppy. Scared and alone, even a dog as courageous as Remy was in a dire situation. Fortunately, he was rescued by a local shelter in Tennessee and later transported to Forever Home Rescue New England in Massachusetts. This is where he met Dan Rodriguez, lighting specialist at Access Fixtures. The dog and human duo had an instant bond.

Remy has since moved to an apartment in Boston with his new family. He enjoys destroying his toys, long walks on the beach, cuddling, and being the cutest dog in the office. At Access Fixtures, he works as the treat quality assessment manager and can often be found trying to squeeze between small spaces in order to reach a treat on the other side…it’s all part of the job.

Remy takes his job very seriously.
