Before LEDs, customers knew which metal halide lamp wattage they needed in order to achieve desired light levels. The light output of LEDs, however, is not correlated to the light output of a metal halide lamp. Because of this, it can be confusing to determine which LED luminaire to purchase.

Access Fixtures now offers accurate calculations specifying the metal halide equivalency of LED luminaires. All calculations are based on a number of metrics including luminaire efficacy and metal halide lamp mean lumen output. By knowing the true metal halide equivalency of LED luminaires, it’s easier to decide which luminaire to purchase. For example, Access Fixtures 48 watt LED flood light and 40 watt LED wall pack both have the lumen equivalence as a 100 watt metal halide. Both LED luminaires provide the same light output as a 100w MH fixture and reduce energy use by over 50%.
