WORCESTER, Mass., March 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Access Fixtures has published new data detailing bollard light efficacy so clients can make a more informed decision. Bollard lights are outdoor light fixtures that are ideal for illuminating walkways, streets, and driveways of commercial and public areas. While bollard light styles vary, optics, lamp type and wattage can be different as well. There are three primary optics types available: louvers, standard reflectors, and type 5. The light source can be fluorescent, metal halide (MH), high-pressure sodium (HPS) or LED. Wattage for each type of light source can vary. Knowing the efficacy that each combination produces has been difficult. Now, Access Fixtures has published new data that lists the efficacy of every bollard light configuration.

“Customers want to know how much light is emitted by the different combinations of optics, light source and wattage, so they know the overall efficacy,” said Access Fixtures CEO, Steven Rothschild. He continued, “We have been able to calculate the light output and efficacy of every combination of light bollard we offer, enabling clients to make a more informed decision.”

Access Fixtures data on bollard light efficacy has taken every light source, wattage, and optic, and calculated light output in lumens for the light source as well as the entire system. Next, mean lumens and mean lumens per watt were calculated. Mean lumens and mean lumens per watt are the best indicator of efficacy as it takes into consideration lumen depreciation and real world lumens emitted. This new data has demonstrated the efficacy of LED bollard lights and provides customers with information they need to choose the appropriate light source and optic for their application.
