WORCESTER, Mass., Oct. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Access Fixtures is proud to introduce the newest addition to its LED product line: an LED sports lighter with light output equivalent to a 1,500w metal halide sports lighter. Assembled in the USA, this new LED sports lighter emits 71,782 initial luminaire lumens and 61,015 luminaire lumens even after 50,000 hours while using only 567 watts of energy. A metal halide sports lighter with a 1,500-watt lamp and ballast emits 64,000 mean luminaire lumens and uses 1,605 watts of energy. This means that the new LED sports lighter produces more light and uses 65% less energy than a 1500w metal halide sports lighter.

“Improvement in LED technology is enabling Access Fixtures to offer superior lumen output in all of our most popular luminaires,” said Access Fixtures CEO, Steven Rothschild. He continued, “This new sports lighter provides us with a way to light sports facilities; as well as large commercial and industrial facilities such as freight yards, rail stations, while greatly reducing operating and maintenance expenses for property managers.”

Rated LM70 at 100,000 hours, this breakthrough LED sports lighter lasts 33 times as long as a 1,500 watt metal halide lamp. Sports lighters are typically mounted between 30 and 80 feet off the ground. When a facility has to replace a lamp or ballast, the cost is immense due to the requirement of a lift to reach the luminaire. Doing this every 3000 hours is expensive. With the LED sports lighter, maintenance is reduced to virtually zero, significantly reducing a facilities operating cost.
