In many areas, especially coastal communities, excessive artificial lighting can harm wildlife, like sea turtles that need a dark sky to orient towards the ocean. For this reason, many local ordinances require wildlife-friendly lighting. Access Fixtures introduced new LED amber flood lights as part of its comprehensive line of wildlife-friendly luminaires. While many species can see higher color temperatures used in fluorescent, incandescent, and metal halide light sources, they cannot see longer wavelengths like 590 nm used in amber LEDs. The flood lights and area lights are visible to humans, but not to most species affected by artificial lighting.

They are ideal for a number of applications, including parking lot lighting, area lighting, park lighting, marinas, landscape lighting and roadway lighting. Amber LEDs protect wildlife with all the benefits of LED lighting. Rated for 100,000 hours, these amber flood lights are energy-efficient, long-lasting, and require minimal maintenance as compared to other light sources. While these amber lights are not visible for most wildlife affected by artificial lighting, it is important to check with your local ordinance to identify the specific species it focuses on.
